Our Doctors

Dr. Charles Allen:

Dr. Allen moved from a small farm in Virginia to Florida in 1998.  He attended high school locally at Admiral Farragut Academy.  He then attended Florida Institute of Technology where he received his Bachelors degree in Pre-med.  Dr. Allen then made the giant leap to move to the beautiful island of St. Kitts to begin his veterinary education at Ross University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008.  Upon finishing at Ross, he went to the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine to complete his clinical studies.  Dr. Allen started working at Animal Hospital of Treasure Island in 2012 and it didn’t take him long to realize that it was the perfect fit.  He loves the beach community and the personal relationships he has built with his clients and their furry loved ones.

Dr. Allen, along with Dr. Forkner, purchased Animal Hospital of Treasure Island in 2015.  He has always wanted to own a practice and looks forward to continuing to build the veterinary practice while maintaining its sterling reputation in the community.

In his off time, Dr. Allen enjoys boating, fishing, paddle boarding and just about anything that involves water. He also loves to participate in sporting clay competitions throughout the state.  He is a huge Chicago sports fan, following the Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks and bleeding Cubbie Blue.

Dr. Allen has what some might call a zoo at home.  He has a lab mix named Frankie, two Dachshunds named Whiskey and Phoebe and two cats named Charlie Tango and Hermione.

 Dr. Joci Forkner:

Dr. Forkner Graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. She then went on to complete a surgical and internal medicine internship at the University of Florida. Loving Florida, she settled in St. Petersburg and practiced emergency medicine before finding Animal Hospital of Treasure Island. Dr. Forkner fell in love with the patients and the community at Animal Hospital of Treasure Island and feels that a strong staff-client relationship is an important part of your pet's health care.

Dr. Forkner's veterinary interests include acupunture, pain management, canine fitness, and nutrition. When not at work, she can be found running, paddle boarding, or wood working.

Dr. Forkner has a zoo of her own including "Bindi" a Dutch Shepherd mix, "Gillie" a Belgian Malinois, three chihuahuas "Shrimp", "Churro", and "Coconut", and three cats "Brady","Mobitz", and "Kraken".

Dr. Natalie Nagle

Dr. Nagle may be a familiar face to some of you, and we are excited that she has joined us as our newest Associate Veterinarian! Dr. Nagle’s love and passion for veterinary medicine began at a very young age at her family’s farm in Rionegro, Colombia. There she learned how to care for livestock, and to her grandmother’s dismay, would bring home every stray dog in the town. Dr. Nagle’s family has resided in St. Petersburg since 1999 and she considers herself a “Burg local”. She attended high school at Shorecrest Preparatory School and went on to Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY, where she played collegiate volleyball and completed a bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Environmental Science. During her time in New York, she completed multiple veterinary internships and would always come home to work with us as a technician’s assistant. After college, Dr. Nagle joined us full time for two years as a technician before being accepted at the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine.

During her time at UF, she was involved in veterinary service trips to Honduras, and volunteered with community organizations such as Operation Catnip to spay and neuter community cats, and PAWS clinic that provides free veterinary care to citizens in need in Alachua county. She received her DVM in May 2020 with a Certificate in Shelter Medicine and Certificate in Aquatic Animal Medicine from the University of Florida. Dr. Nagle is also Fear Free Certified and finishing up her Certification in Veterinary Acupuncture from the Chi Institute. Dr. Nagle also loves to work with exotics and wildlife, so we would love to work on extending our care to any of your non-dog/cat family members!

In her time off, Dr. Nagle enjoys running with her dogs, paddle boarding, playing beach volleyball, and cycling. Dr. Nagle’s home zoo includes her fiancé, Alistair, “Riley” a sassy tabby cat, “Leicester” a handsome orange tabby cat, “Luna” a mischievous German Shepherd, and “Orion” a stubborn Shepherd Mix.
